The following Qs and As are modified somehow to eliminate some spelling, grammar

and computer grammar errors.

Q:    I wonder, if I would multi home my Computer, is there a Way to direct the

traffic created by the program over a specific NIC or address like use

100.100.100.1 that would be fantastic. I can then for the cost of a couple

of NIC's be sure not to increase the traffic at all on my user network.

A:    When you "Select the target directory" on the network,  before you click

open on the full directory name, substitute the machine name with your IP

      address. It should look like:

      Old: \\Your_Remote_PC\SHARE_NAME\your_directory

      New: \\100.100.100.1\SHARE_NAME\your_directory

Q:    Hi there

I'm very interested on your auto mirror...

      The Program has great potential.

When ever I delete a file from my source directory the program will also

delete the file in the target directory. So far so good, but short after

the file is gone in the target DIR a new file is created but it is

renamed. Example: original myfile.dlu, new = Dc37.dlu. The no 37 will

increase with every file delete by 1 (Dc37  Dc38 ......).

Is this intended or is there a setting to stop that?

A:    When you delete a file using Windows Explorer it does not actually delete

it. Explorer sends it to the Recycle Bin. This process ends up with

renaming the file (with this Dc37 or some other name). Auto Mirror detects

rename operation and replicate the renamed file. Everything is OK at this

point. To fix the problem You can try: Recycle Bin -> properties check "Do

not move files to Recycle bin". It should force Explorer to delete file

      instead of rename.

Q:    Does Auto Mirror support NTFS security?

A:    Yes it does. Even If you do backup from NTFS to FAT, you can restore

your data  from FAT back to NTFS with all original NTFS security.

Q:    Is Auto Mirror safe to use for backing up the Windows NT Server system

      directories?  Will the Open File

      Handler interfere with regular system

      operation?  What are the risks?

A:    Open File Handler (OFH) does not interfere  with regular file system

operation. It only detects certain FS

events and notifies Auto Mirror. OFH  does not look up the data in the

file. It does not know anything about

      specific application data.

Q:    I am considering installing Auto Mirror on a busy Internet Server machine.

      Please comment.

A:    Auto Mirror will do real time backup of your files as they will get

changed. The performance will depend on

your target directory performance - second local drive, network drive,

      removable media.

In any event Auto Mirror will only update portion of file that has been

      changed, not the entire file.

Q:    I am assuming that the Auto Mirror configuration would adequately provide

a backup of the Win NT

installation to enable me to recover (disaster recovery)?

A:    Yes it will. You should realize that if you main NT hard disk is broken

you will need some how to boot your

PC to access saved NT installation. We suggest that you have secondary NT

      Workstation installation that will

      allow you to do it.

Q:    Is there any documentation available?

A:    The only documentation is avaliable - help from the main menu. We are

working hard to keep it up to date.

Q:    What is the "Copy Security on FAT" option for? The source directory is on

      an NTFS partition.  If the

destination is on a FAT partition, how are NTFS information (i.e.

      security, compression...) stored?

A:    We store security information in a separate file - the restore process

will be using it to set up the security on

      NTFS.
